Printer-friendly versionWelcome to the College of Medicine Office of Outreach and Multicultural Affairs (OMA). Our mission is to improve the health care of Arizonans through fostering and achieving cultural equity and sensitivity within the state's educational and health care systems.
Our programs and activities serve to:
- Increase the ethnic and cultural diversity of the health care workforce, and
- Promote knowledge of the critical relationship between culture and health.
Strategic Actions
- Provide information on, and exposure to, various professions in the health field;
- Offer academic enrichment program for high school students interested in exploring college and professional opportunities in the health field;
- Facilitate access to information, resources, and services to assist students during the admission and application process to medical school;
- Offer skills building programs and activities to prepare students applying to medical school;
- Offer personal guidance and career mentoring opportunities to premed and medical students;
- Offer opportunities to enhance cultural and linguistic (Spanish) competence of premed and medical students; and
- Foster a diversity-supportive environment in medical school.
